Community volleyball season starts August 27
More than 50 third- through sixth-grade girls are preparing for the start of the Cheyenne County Community Center's youth volleyball season following a two-day skills camp led by the Sidney High School volleyball program. Youth league practices begin Monday, Aug. 24, with matches starting Thursday, Aug. 27.
Everly Brothers tribute artists will rock Sidney audience
The High Plains Arts Council is bringing The Everly Set to Sidney to open their 2026-2027 season 7 p.m. September 14. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for students (including WNCC), and children under 5 are free.

WNCC volleyball falls twice at Reiver Invite
The Western Nebraska Community College volleyball team opened the season with two hard-fought matches at the Reiver Invite on Friday in Council Bluffs, Iowa. WNCC wrapped up the invite on Saturday facing Jefferson College and then College of Southern Idaho. The Cougars opened the invite falling to Dodge City Community College and then lost to the host squad Iowa Western Community College.
Thunderstorm Warning extended to Cheyenne, Morrill, Banner and Kimball counties
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Cheyenne, Kimball, Morril land Banner counties until 8 p.m. tonight. At 7:08 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 11 miles north of Dix.
